Incentives

If you know Logan, you know that he is driven by positive reinforcement.  If he knows he can earn a dollar for taking out the trash or helping dad with the yardwork...he's ON it!  Well, today was no exception.  Lately, he's had a few bad days at school and his teacher has him on a smiley face incentive program.  If he gets 5 stickers, then he gets a smiley face and gets to choose something from the treasure box (usually some kind of cheap plastic toy that kids love).  So this morning I told him that we are going to St. George for fall break, but if he doesn't get a smiley today...well, we wouldn't go.  I didn't realize how much it meant for him to go to St. George, but he got really nervous and started to whine.  He was worried that maybe he wouldn't get a smiley face today.  I told him if he did these three things (listen to teacher, be nice, and be good) that I was sure he'd get a smiley.  He was still really worried as he rushed out to the bus.  Well, when he came home from school, he ran up to my room and showed me his prize.  He said guess what!?  And of course I knew he had gotten his smiley.  Then he proceeded to tell me this:

"I prayed for Heavenly Father to help me be good".  Um seriously, that just about melted this mom's heart.  I guess I'm doing something right...or maybe his Primary teachers...but either way, I was sure proud of him and that he knew that Heavenly Father would help him be good.  Simple faith.  So cute.

Looks like this little family will be heading to St. George this week!

That's my little Logie! He can do whatever he sets his mind on doing. Now he knows that fact too! And he knows where he can get help. What a sweet little testimony!
